Three members of Appalachian State’s field hockey team received All-MAC recognition for the 2025 season, as announced by the conference Tuesday. Sophia Baxter and Lise Boekaar earned first-team selections, while Hadley Kuzmicky was named to the second team.

Sophia Baxter (All-MAC First Team)

The junior center back delivered an exceptional two-way campaign, tying for the team lead with 13 goals while recording three defensive saves. Baxter anchored an App State defense that posted four shutouts this season, showing her versatility as both a shutdown defender and scoring threat on penalty corners. Her ability to prevent opposing fast breaks while remaining available as an offensive weapon made her one of the MAC’s most complete players.

Lise Boekaar (All-MAC First Team)

Boekaar enjoyed a record-breaking season from the midfield, totaling 13 goals and a team-high 19 assists. She shattered the program’s all-time career assist record against Central Michigan on October 10 and registered multiple multi-assist performances, including one five-assist game and two three-assist games.

Early in the season, Boekaar was directly responsible for the team’s first 10 goals, either scoring or assisting on all of them. Her game-winning goal against then-No. 18 James Madison propelled the Mountaineers to their first national ranking at No. 17. She concluded the year ranked in the program’s top 10 for career points, single-season goals, and single-season points.

Hadley Kuzmicky (All-MAC Second Team)

The senior concluded her collegiate career with a standout campaign, finishing third on the team with a career-high 10 goals. Kuzmicky recorded two-goal performances against Queens and Kent State while scoring a crucial goal in the thrilling 5-4 victory over No. 18 James Madison. Her 24 total points this season nearly doubled her previous career high of 13 points set during her sophomore year, demonstrating remarkable growth throughout her Mountaineers career.

Tournament Awaits

The Mountaineers face Ohio in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN+, with the trio of All-MAC honorees leading App State’s championship pursuit.
